Well as a gay man reading "The Forgotten" there were many times where I put the
book down and thought Tamara Thorne has got to be a pseudonym. Only a gay man
could write such great queer characters with such love and humor. Eh, so I was
wrong. You must have some Fabulous friends Tamara! Thank you so much for
representing these men not as stereotypes and for not killing them off! I am now
reading the trilogy and i have "Moonfall" on deck. Thank you for being so
utterly delicious!

Yes, Matt, Lots of marvelous men friends. What do gay men have that straight men
don't? Girl friends! Thanks, I'm complimented that you'd wonder about my gender!
Gabe and Kevin were especially fun because they were the only couple in the book
who had a clue about relationships and how to keep them healthy. You'lll find a
bisexual TV best buddy in Bad Things. So far, that's all the gay-oriented
chacters I've done as "real" people. (The lesbian antics in Sorority and Candle
Bay are more along cartoonish or Cinemax lines...)

Just had to let you know how great the Trilogy has been to this point. Have read
the first two and looking forward to the last. Can't put the books down. Plan on
getting copies of all your books. Love this kind of books. Keep up the great
work.

Hi Tamara - read "Eve" and "Candle Bay" during two recent flights and had a
great time. Very nice stuff. I've had two nonfiction books published and
recently finished my first novel. It's a thriller with strong supernatural
overtones and I'm curious: is the market really difficult right now for first
time novelists to break into the "horror" genre? Do you mind sharing the name of
your agent or any suggestions? Hope this finds you and yours well. Thanks! rick

Congratulations on your own publications! My agent would mind my giving her name
out since she's not taking new clients, and it is difficult to find an agent, so
I wish you luck. You might do better presenting your book to publishers yourself
then snagging an agent when you have a nibble -- that's much easier. I'll be
answering questions at www.allaboutghosts.com regarding writing. You can see the
first column there now.

HI,TAMARA, I HAVE NEVER WRITTEN A WRITER BEFORE!LOL. JUST HAD TO LET U KNOW HOW
MUCH I ENJOYED EVE AND MERILYNN, AND CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE LAST OF THE TRILOGY.
I HAVEN'T HAD THE PLEASURE OF READING ANY OF YOUR OTHER BOOKS, BUT I INTEND TO.
THANKS MUCH! I AM INTRIGUED BY THE ART OF WRITING A NOVEL AND WOULD LOVE TO
WRITE SOME DAY. TIL NEXT TIME. BECKY

Thanks Becky. Glad you enjoyed. If you want to write someday, start immediately
and never stop! Also, starting Nov 1 (or somewhere around there)
www.allaboutghost.com will have a writer's workshop. I'll be doing the first
article on writing, then answering a guestion or two a month about writing for
their site. They'll be having writing contests, too. Ghost stories, of course,
are preferred:-)

Hi Tamara,GDarkness experienced some problems...mostly due to people linking
directly to images on 4Degrees & eating up bandwith.I just subscribed to drawn
quarterly,as I missed the mark from being so shocked that you actually replied.
Well,GDarkness is back up & so is that glowing review I did of Bad
Things.(Legs!Legs!Legs!-LOL!)I see that you are working on your links page
there. So I'd still like to extend the offer to exchange links with GD when you
get around to it.Of course any submissions to the site you see fit that will
serve also as advertising (for you & us)will be more than welcome.Thankyou for
being such a community oriented people person, when by all rights you could be a
pretentious snob.(Especially w/a record like yours!)I know all your fans, and
others appreciate it!Many thanks!-Hallow.

Glad your site is back up. Write to my webmaster at webmaster@tamarathorne.com
about links -- that's her department. She checks in here from time to time but
is very busy, so it's best to email her directly. We're both insane with work
and I don't think we're terribly close to having a links page yet, but we're
trying. We're very trying. (Oh, hey, I might be a pretentious snob...I might do
it in my spare time...:-) Actually, don't damn writers as snobs when they don't
answer. I shouldn't be answering, I should be working. I just like email and
lack self-discipline. Pretend this is a new paragraph... Thank you for the
review of Bad Things -- do send me the link and/or post it here and I'll try to
put it in the newsletter, at the least. Glad you liked the legs legs legs stuff.
I found out after writing the book that Johnny Ek, the B&B circus half-man that
gave me the idea for Robin, actually had a twin brother who was whole, like
Ricky. Johnny was brilliant and beloved, multi-talented, and lived to a ripe old
age. Only physical commanlities exist between him and Robin. If you have HBO,
check out Carnivale. It has much of the feel I was after in my carnival scenes
in Bad Things. Fascinating subject.

My love of reading, which began at the age of 8, was a gift from my beloved
father. Now that I'm in my early 40's, my affection for books is stronger than
ever. I read mostly fiction, my favorite being ghost stories/hauntings.
Unfortunately, the hauntings genre has not been popular among writers in the
recent past. Therefore, finding the works of Tamara Thorne is like finding
jewels in the sand. I have read (and re-read) all of her books. Naturally, my
favorite is The Haunted. I felt the passion of the ghostly lovers, Lizzie and
the Captain, enchanted by the evil Cristabel, annoyed by the realtorn Theodora,
and entertained by the gossiping housekeeper, Mrs. Willard, aptly nicknamed
"Minnie Mouth". Finally, I fell in love with the man himself, David Masters. I
hope Ms. Thorne would do a series on David Masters and his ongoing encounters
with ghosts. Ms. Thorne is brilliant and a true storyteller. For that, I thank
you for making this expert horror reader go to bed with the lights on.
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Ah, shucks. Thanks. HAUNTED has always been a pet -- purely a labor of love of
the (haunted house) genre. David turns up briefly in THE FORGOTTEN and has a
part in the novel I'm writing now. I'm not likely to do a series -- I need "new"
all the time -- but characters and places will show up in other characters'
books now and then. (Prof. McCobb's wife, Vera McCobb, was a throw-away
character in THE FORGOTTEN, but the name was too fun, as was the house she
showed me, so Professor Daniel McCobb showed up in THE SORORITY. And I can
almost guarantee you they'll be in the CANDLE BAY sequel. Oh, speaking of sand,
if you can find an old (paperback, out of print) copy of Michael McDowell's THE
ELEMENTALS, I think you'll like that.

Hi Tamara, just a note to let you know that I had finished reading all three of
the Sorority series. Very well done! I am going to buy a couple of more of your
books to add to my collection. Please tell your readers not to shop at Ralph's,
or Vons, since I was working as a courtesy clerk for about a year, part time; at
a Ralph's store. And we were locked out this past weekend, yes I am part of the
strike! We suggest people to shop elsewhere, just read the newspapers, we're
becoming more famous, cause of the media now. I only done this protesting for
about three days straight and today I am taking a break, I got tired of hearing
their honks, which my sign says, "honk if you support us!" So if you support us,
we thanks you and I hope to hear from you soon, if not I will understand. Also,
I have a new email address, this old one is still open, but I got tired of it.
yesterday while I was picketing, I was guarding one of our store's main truck
route and we almost got ran over a couple of time by those big trucks! I really
felt an unseen hand pulled my shoulders back, as if sheilding me from getting
hit! Well, please write soon. Take care. From number one fan always, Nicole M.
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Good luck, Nicole. It's too hot out there to be picketing and with all the
fires, it's too hard to breathe. Damien and I support your efforts and hope it's
a short strike for everyone's sake. (We just thought our dinky haven, Trader
Joe's, was too busy before the strike -- now we have to shop in full body
armor.) The strike is definitely having all kinds of impacts... If you have
changed your email address, be sure and list the new one on the DQ page. Or send
me a "subscribe" email from the new address and put your old email address with
"unsubscribe" in the otherwise blank email. Or a separate unsubscribe email from
the old address.

I felt cheated that the book review I read prior to ordering the book did not
state it was part of a trilogy, I was expecting so much more and then it was
done. I thought the ending was highly disappointing, how did Eve get out of the
jam she was in? I think it was a cop-out, like Annie Wilkes says in "Misery", he
didn't get out of the cockadoody car!
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Which book review didn't mention The Sorority wasn't a trilogy? Thanks.

I love your story Candle bay. I am reading your next book Bad things . Your my
favorite author
10/14/2003 Annee
I got the first Sorority book at a drug store while waiting for my presciptions
to be filled, it was the only book that looked decent so I bought it. I LOVED
IT! Could not put it down. Got the next two and read them all in a few days.
Just wanted to tell you I thought they were wonderful, I love stories like that
and I love it when I find a book I simply can't put down. Thanks!! Would make a
great movie! Any more similar to that series on the way?
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by
Thanks Annee. THE SORORITY is really a serial novel -- like a play in three
acts, it's one book in three parts. For more girls' school fun, try MOONFALL,
which is just out with a new cover. I never know what I might do in the way of
another serial or a sequel, though a sequel to CANDLE BAY is likely. Characters
do appear in other books, particularly HAUNTED's David Masters (THE FORGOTTEN
and an upcoming novel). Places also reappear or are referred to frequently in
different stories. It's Tamaraland. . . :-) Movie rights for the trilogy are
being bandied about, just like rights to the other books. Cross your fingers!

Just finished Candle Bay, a truely great read, get your brain straining and your
fingers typing , can't wait for the next Candle Bay...lol... and a toast to a
wonderful writer...Thank You

Thanks! My brain is in Full Straining Position. If fact, it's starting to leak
out my ears.

Ms.Thorne just had to say I am an avid reader of many horror writers I
absolutely loved Dean Koontz at one time but then the sorority trilogy fell into
my hands and I managed to read all 3 in 2 days, I am going out today to get
whatever else you have written, I thought the acknowledgments in the Samantha
book was GREAT!!! Please keep these books coming you are truly gifted Thank you
for wonderfull late night reads.
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Thanks, Paulette! I enjoy Dean Koontz too. He writes lots of different types of
books -- you'll find I do too. I range from campy (like Sorority) to very nearly
serious. But even the serious stuff is full of bad puns. If my books aren't on
the shelves, you can ask any major bookstore to order them. They do that all the
time, doesn't cost a dime except the price of the book when you pick it up. If
you'd like some signed ones, check out the info on the home page -- or subscribe
to my newsletter. I'll be signing at Dark Delicacies Oct. 11 -- next Saturday.

I have fallen in love with all your books, which is surprising to me because I
never enjoyed reading before. I was wondering if you've ever thought of turning
one of your books into a movie?
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
I I'm so glad my stories let you enjoy reading! As for the movies, there's
plenty of interest in making some, but with Hollywood, you never know for sure
until it happens. Keep your fingers crossed!

I just finished reading Candle Bay and the Sorority trilogy, and I must say: You
are a brillant writer with so much craft and imagination that it is no wonder
you are at the top of your game. With Stephen King retiring there will be a new
master of horror! As a fellow writer, myself, i find it hard to be original in
this genre where so many others have paved the way: Ira Levin, John Saul, Dean
Koontz, and Richard Laymon. I look forward to the sequel to Candle Bay...I love
those twins, too! I am reading Eternity now and just bought MoonFall. I am a huge
fan so if you ever have a minute e-mail @ EZB22@aol.com. I look forward to
hearing from you. Lot's of luck!!
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Thanks, Brian. Your last name's a natural for horror-writing!

Hi Tamara, I would just like to say that I love reading your books, and I can
never wait til more are released. ^_^ Right now I am reading Moonfall, which is
an excellent, engrossing read. It's great how your stories are connected with
the mention of characters, places, and towns. Every time I open one of your
books, I'm sucked right back into an extraordinary world of familiarity. It's
just too bad for me that I read so fast. ;D Anyway, good luck - I can't wait for
more of your upcoming works.
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
If only I could write as fast as you read:-P
