One never knows. . . You will be seeing more about Greenbriar College,
Professor McCobb, Caledonia and who knows what else about the people and
places of all the books on the upcoming HauntedLands.com. More news on that
soon

Hi, You have a great website! FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE also revealed at:
www.holy-secrets.com Thank you.
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
I love forbidden knowledge. Like how to clean the cat hair out from under my
laptop's keyboard without flicking key caps all over the place. Also I do
like forbidden knowledge about religion, like what priests wear under their
robes while on vacation. Readers who like my conspiracy-oriented tales, you
might really like Dan Brown's Angels & Demons for an upclose and
delightfully well-researched romp down the halls of the Vatican. A serious
romp that doesn't play as loose with facts as I often do. You'll get lots of
illlumination on Illuminati, monk junk and pope dope! Speaking of
conspiracy, all hail Robert Anton Wilson. He predicted years ago that the
Illuminati would cause Janet Jackson to reveal a sacred star on her booby at
the Super Bowl. Expect to see Michael wearing a eye-tipped pyramid on his
whoops-a-daisy at the Oops, I Did it Again Awards later this year. On a
serious note, I don't mind you posting your url and your site looks quite
interesting, but readers, please remember Tamara's Rule of Disorder: Lean to
the left, lean to the right, don't get fanatical and you'll be all right.
(That's a thinly disgused ad for Devil's Wine, coming to bookstores near you
any time now. See www.allaboutghosts.com's February Ask Tamara for an inside
look at the kinks of writing poetry in motion.)

Hey Tamara! I just wanted to say that I've read a majority of your books and
they are awesome! I'm finishing up Moonfall now and my curiosity is driving me
crazy! I absolutely MUST find out what happens! Ahh! I also wanted to comment on
the doctor's (coroner?) name...Dr. Cutter...hilarious. lol I can't wait for a
new book! :-)
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Ever notice how many doctors and veterinarians have names that fit their
work? Dr. Wolf, Dr. Katz, Dr. Intestines. . . It's just astounding!

Hey Tamara, what's up with you? Haven't seen you post in a long while except for
the Martian landscape. heh :)
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Hey Dark, I'm writing my tail off, trying to get the newsletter back up and
running and visiting Mars now and then. I'll be at Con-Dor in San Diego at
the end of February. The 28th. Hope to see you there!

HI Tamara, I just finished Moonfall. Very Cool! I am glad I finally discovered
you, and will now read every one of your books:) I also wanted to suggest a band
you may like - The Mansions (even the name is spooky) you can find them at:

Are you sure you are not graham Masterton?
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
(Checking). Nope. I'm not Graham Masterton. But I play him on TV. :-) Thanks
for such a grand compliment -- he's a wonderful writer. The Manitou is on my
all-time favorites short list. So witty and clever.

I finished reading The Forgotten and really enjoyed it. Sorry it took me so long
to get back to you on that. I have been hesitant to turn on any electronic
devices for fear of upsetting the cats in my house and wildlife in general.. In
fact, just typing this out is making me kind of nervous...
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Thanks! The Forgotten is a personal fave. The Orange Boys are real and we
really do have an occasional bout of Statue-Cat when some sort of
electromagnetic anomaly occurs here. Scares the Boys silly. Or still. The
only thing we notice is that the cats are staring at something we can't see
and if you put your hand in the region, static raises your arm hairs -- and
sometimes there are hot spots. (Like cold spots, but zapped!) One Orange Boy
(the one who played "Freud" in the book) is also aware of another
electromagnetic anomaly and will go stiff and stare at the ceiling. When I
go outside and look, it's always one of those dreaded black helicopters.

Dear Tamara, I first stumbled upon The Sorrority in a Walden Books, and I never
looked back! I read the trillogy in 5 days, and they were probablly the best
books I've ever read. Thanks SO much for creating a book that I really love! So,
in short, Thank you! Sincerly, TLC

Glad I could amuse you!

Hi Tamara, I just finished you Sorority Trilogy in 4 days. I loved it so much, I
couldnt put the books down. Now I have to get your other books and add to my
library collection. The story line and characters were so fascinating.
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Glad you enjoyed. Currently Candle Bay and Bad Things can be tough to find
-- the publisher ran out -- but if you hunt around, you'll find them,
especially if you inquire at some of the big chains. They sometimes keep
extras in their warehouses. The other books should be cake:-P

*bows down at your feet, then stares in awe* ...Wow. I just finished reading
Eve, and Im starting on Merilynn. I have Samantha, too. I loved them. I first
heard of them through my mothers book club. I saw the books in the Horror
Section, and they really caught my eye. Probably because I like the occult and
things. And I was wondering, WHERE, do you get your inspiration? Like...Eve was
so compelling, and well-written. Your style actually reminds me of the way my
friend wrotes. Only she uses really big words my less-intellegent mind can
comprehend. o.o;;
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Often I literally dream up my ideas. July 04's Thunder Road started with a
dream. So did Eternity and several others. The Sorority comes from stories
my mother told me about a drowned town she'd lived in (pre-drowning) as a
girl and how she'd gone back on her honeymoon and swam over the ruins. She
could see the treetops and the church steeple. More ideas came from a
life-long enjoyment of Arthurian lore and from a 20-year Jones for all
things conspiratorial. Skull & Bones, the secret society at Yale that the
Bushes and many other political and world business types were initiated into
is sort of a wading pool for things some might call Illuminati-oriented. Add
in the joy I took in writing dirty poems about cheerleaders in high school,
repeated viewings of Animal House and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and
bam! You get The Sorority.

The book Sorority EvE is great so far I got to the point were sam and Eve was
looking down were Merilynn was in the hole and the seen some thing like eyes and
is scared them and they ran . so farI would like to read the other books at
first I thought I would hate the book but now I cant put it down .....
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Those eyes come from some reflections that looked like eyes when I was a
kid. I loved telling other kids stories about the green-eyed ghost in the
bush across the street from the school playground. I still do. Some people
never grow up:-)

Hi, Tamara. First of all, I want to tell you how much I love your books. You
have a great style, characterization, plot. etc ... First question - was the
school of The Sorority based any particular college or university? I live in
southern California and I've been trying to guess where it might have been based
... Second -- What is your #1 piece of advice for writers on the act of writing?
Kudos again, and can't wait for your next release!
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
Jenn, Thanks! Greenbriar College was fictional, though when I was a tot, my
sister was going to Whittier College in Whittier, CA and I remember being
impressed by the huge old white structure surrounded by greenery. Very
impressed, I suppose, since it shows up in dreams now and then, though the
building itself is long gone. The Sorority is a riff on a secret society --
Skull & Bones -- out of Yale. The little club so many politcos belonged to,
including both Bushes. So, the artist made the college campus on the cover
art look very much like Yale. Tres cool! My number one piece of advice?
Write daily, even if it's just a paragraph, and write to please yourself, no
one else. Write what you want to read. I intended to put a workshop page on
this site, but time is too constrictive. Happily, www.allaboutghosts.com is
sponsoring writing contests, running articles on writing (so far, by me, but
I'm sure other writers will drop in now and then) and my monthly Q&A column
on writing. Send them along. Visit the AAG site or send questions to tamara@allaboutghosts.com

Tamara, This is my first time visiting your website. I fell upon it by searching
for sites that could tell me if there are any ghost legends that take place in
Buffalo, NY. I've been intrigued by stories of the supernatural for as long as i
can remember. Is there any way for me to find out if there truly are ghosts in
buffalo?
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
There are plenty of ghosts in NY and I'm sure you'll find tons in Buffalo.
First, try searching www.allaboutghosts.com. They may have the link you
want. Also, try a google search on "ghosts hauntings Buffalo New York" --
I'll bet you get a ton of 'em! Good luck!

I dont know if you remember me but i sent you a fan letter about a really funny
vampire book you wrote.im on line now and i found the letter you sent back.I do
hope you will be in contact.
Response posted: 1/1/2001 by Tamara
James, I get lots of mail, especially about Candle Bay, the vampire novel.
Eventually, there will be a sequel -- it's all planned out. I try to answer
reader mail, but it's becoming very difficult because there's getting to be
lots of it. (Sweet torture:-) I may not have received your letter -- we're
getting ready to switch servers and my website email address is a little
funky at the moment. You can, for the time being, use tamarathorne@msn.com
to be sure to get through. I try to answer everyone, but the answers have to
be short -- otherwise, I don't have time to write my books. Thanks for your
interest. The website will get some updating after the holidays and I'll get
back to putting out news in the Drawn Quarterly Newsletter. That's the best
way to hear from me. You can also find me at www.allaboutghosts.com. I do a
writing column and a Q&A there.
