June 10, 2005, Trystan Smith
I found your book by searching for "Tamara Thorne" on www.buy.esearchlogic.com and it was only $5.39 from Amazon from Buy. I found all your books there; however; I started with Haunted first.

Trystan,
Hope you enjoy the books!

Dear Tamara,
I’m a collector of autographs of politicians, sportsmen, artists, and authors from around the world (I have more than 1.200 authentic autographs). By using this email, I would ask you, if you would be so kind to send me an autograph of you. I will be very delighted to own your signature in my personal collection of autographs. Anyway, thank you very much, and may God bless you and your family. With warm greetings from Belgium, and of course I wish you all the best in your career.

Just finished reading "Thunder Road".  One of the best books I have read in quite a while.  You created charactors that I really connected to and cared about.  I'm talking about the good guys, of course.  I have the habit of casting the books I read as if they were being made into a movie.  I couldn't help but picture Eva Langoria (of Desperate Housewives) as Maria Lopez.  Anyway, I loved the book and will be reading more in the near future.
All the best

Glad you enjoyed Thunder Road, Walter .  Tom Abernathy was a Gary Cooper type in my mind, but the only character who had an actor's face from the very beginning for me was James Robert Sinclair. He's John Corbett.  I have no idea why -- He just is.

Hi Tamara, :)
I know California is nice and all growing up there myself, but can you plan any trips to the East Coast for an appearance at a convention or book shop or something?

I came to your neck of the woods last summer for Necon and stayed a little while to soak up the local haunts (literally). I'd love to travel back east more often, time permitting.  When I have something planned, it will appear in Drawn Quarterly and on this website.  Meanwhile, you can come revisit California. See the Upcoming Events page for nifty upcoming stuff. You can also tune into Magick Mind Radio (see right-side links) on Thursdays for a live show or any time to listen to archives.

I will be taking the Ghosts of Savannah Tour in Savannah Georgia this weekend. This is something that I've always wanted to do, but just haven't taken the time to do it. There are tons of ghost stories circulating about Savannah's spectral past, and enduring voodoo culture, and I've always wanted to learn more about them. I don't expect an encounter of any kind, or experience any of the unexpected sights or sounds that they boast. But the tour should still be fun regardless. What I would like to do is go on an actual investigation of a supposedly haunted location, but I don't think there are many groups in the south that are serious about investigating the paranormal. Someone suggested contacting you Tamara, since that is something you've done in the past. But I can't see driving from South Carolina to California just to get in on a ghost hunt. Not that it wouldn't be a great experience, but gas prices are just too high! :)

Hey Kevin,
Good luck on your ghost tour. Savannah -- I envy you (except for the humidity). Damien and I will be at San Diego's Whaley House doing a private investigation while you're out ghosting. (I envy me, too...) Your attitude -- not expecting anything to happen -- is the best one you can have. If you expect something to happen, it never does. My other tips are (1) no smoking unless fake ecto is desired (2) no flash photography unless you want fake orbs and (3) skip the million candlepower flashlights.

There are many ghost groups in the south, but finding one that suits your style -- especially if it's as skeptical as mine -- can be difficult. Eventually, we expect to list a few groups on www.hauntster.net, but right now, take yourself over to Jeff Belanger's www.ghostvillage.com and start hunting around. There are lots of good people and groups there. Good ghost stories too.

Happy hunting!

Hi!  I've just recently 'discovered' Tamara's books! They're wonderful! I've read The Forgotten and Eternity and I totally loved them! Even though her read The Forgotten and Eternity and I totally loved them! Even though her books aren't directly connected to each other, I prefer to read authors' writings in sequence, so I was wondering if there is somewhere on this site (I didn't see anything obvious) that could provide a chronological list of publication dates.
As an amateur ghost hunter and spiritual explorer, I love the angle she offers in her stories, making it conceptual for those readers who might have trouble with alternative possibilities.
Thanks, Tamara!
Peace and Bright Blessings,
Megen

Thanks for the feedback, Megen. A chronological list is a great idea. We'll add one. The worlds in the books are the same -- you'll occasionally find mention of places or people in other books. Except for reading the Sorority Trilogy in order, there's no real order to the novels, though Haunted introduced David Masters, who appears in The Forgotten. Many of my ideas are loosely based in real ghost experiences of my own. That's part of the fun of writing!

I just finished reading Thunder Road, and I wanted to say that it was one of the best horror novels I have ever read. Keep it coming!

Thanks, Keith! I may have to revisit Madelyn because I suspect Tom Abernathy is now up to his Stetson in ghosts. Madelyn is based on Calico Ghost Town, a county maintained silver-mining ghost town in California (near Madelyn) and we've been doing lots of ghost hunting there lately. At night. In the dark. No one from town goes there at night. No one can hear you scream. . . We've seen the blue globular "UFOs," for ourselves and we've seen all sorts of ghostly anomalies. Enough to fill a few books. See the link on the Thunder Road page to visit Calico's website.

I just wanted to thank you, Tamara, for writing about the paranormal as I grew up in a haunted hous and am living in one now. You've already helped explain a few things that have been going on around here. Trying to maintain a computer hook-up for one thing... We were blaming it on the fey but now I'm not so sure.

The paranormal is always behind my books, in one form or another. I'm glad to be of help and very curious about your ghosts. Watch for more and more paranormal content as Hauntster gets its own website!

Tamara, My Aunt gave me one of your books. I started reading it and can't put it down. The one that I'm reading is Candle Bay. I love Vampires and things that go bump in the night. I'll have to read more of your books from now.

Glad you're enjoying Candle Bay, Penni! I hope you like the others, too!

I really love your books, I can not get enough. I just finished Candle Bay and want more about Amanda and Stephen.

Thanks, Becky! Glad you enjoyed Candle Bay. I had so much fun writing it that I put the cliffhanger in there so I'd be sure to write a sequel!

March 06, 2005, John Branch
just to say I really enjoyed Thunder road, now must read all your books. best wishes, john.

Thanks, John! The inspiration for Thunder Road is Calico Ghost Town, not far from the fictional town of Madelyn, and it does indeed have mysterious lights in the sky. I've seen them. But I've been doing lots of ghost investigating there recently and just may have to do a novel about the ghosts in Madelyn. . .there are even more of those than UFOs. (You can check out Calico via the links on the Thunder Road  page.

Thank-you Tamara, I have read all your books and love the all. The only problem is that I get into them so much I usually finish them in 6 hours. Anyway I love how you include humor in your stories it makes it easier to relate to the characters. Keep them coming I can't wait for the next one. (when you release new books I usually request off of work that day so I can read it)

Thanks, Tracey! I only wish I could write as fast as you read!

Hi Tamara.
I received two books from a close friend, and I was wondering which book comes first, they are:
THE SORORITY EVE and THE SORORITY SAMANTHA.
I would like to read them in the right order.
Waiting your response, Debbie

The Sorority goes in this order: Eve, Merilynn, Samantha. Hope you enjoy!

I'm avid reader of 'certain' books. So far out of your selection I have read Bad Things, Candle Bay, The Sorrority:Eve,Merilynn, and Samantha.
I especially like the Sorrority humor, but I was curious to why you use 'extended' life as a integrity?

I'm not sure what you mean by integrity, but cheating death is about as compelling as it gets when it comes to people doing desperate things to achieve a goal. Money and beauty form close seconds. Thanks for writing!

Tamara, I read Haunted when I was in 6th grade and became an instant fan. I am on chapter 40 of Candle Bay at the moment and I have enjoyed every word of it. The twins are amazing and excite and scare me at the same time. Please keep writing more books like these. I get so lost in them!

Glad you enjoy the books, April. I was in 6th grade when I read The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. I hope Haunted scared you half as much as Jackson's book scared me!

I have just finished reading Thunder Road and was happy that i only needed to read 2 other books from the Tamara Thorne collection (Candle Bay, Bad Things) sadly I called my bookstore and they said the publisher did not carry them, and they would check with another to see if they could get them. with hope I traveled to Santa Fe and went to BORDERS book store sure they would have them they only had Thunder Road so now stuck without anything to read I hope you can tell me whether these books are being rereleased or some other way I can find them. By the way you mentioned NM in Thunder Road and with all the history and ghostly tales in the Southwest I sure do hope you right a book about some of them. Also please tell me when your new releases will be coming out and what they are about if you can.
Always a devoted fan,
Manuel

Thanks, Manuel. Check the book's pages on this site for hints on where to find a copy of a book that's currently out of print. I agree -- New Mexico is very rich in lore and it's definitely on my locations list for a future book. The haunted St. James Hotel in Raton provided some bonus inspiration one night. There's nothing like sleeping with spooks to inspire a new ghost story!
